What Brought me to Africa

This has been a very long two year for me! So here is how I ended up here on my way to leave for Africa. It show how much these years have prepared me for the challenges ahead. Also that I am dedicated, determined and ready to finally start this journey. Also no one or anything comes between my dreams We will start with some quick bullet points that will outline my next post over the coming weeks that have prepared me for this next step in life:
  • Returned Peace Corps Volunteer comes to my high school
  • Start volunteering and met Robin
  • Started my Peace Corps Applications
  • Dealing with my families reaction
  • Got nominated to the Pacific Island to work as Health Care Worker
  • Got Medical deferred for a year
  • Got Served
  • Moved out and had a blast
  • Had second thoughts about the Peace Corps
  • Finally start my applications again
  • Had to have a root canal
  • Got cleared to go and moved to West Virginia
  • Started to heal in West Virginia
  • Got the call to go to Africa!
Through all this time I have found that things really happened for a reason and the universe works in crazy ways to put me in this spot. At this time I may not know why things have happened but when the big moment happens, I will look back and see that all the mess and learning that has happen, happened for a reason. I feel like now is the time for to my voice to speak.  Most people know I am pretty private person. Its time to tell my story and move on with the past and look to the future because as I see it, you are the only one that can mess up your life, other can effect you but you are the only one that can screw things up. So after hearing this lyric today
"Thank God I found the good in goodbye" I feel that it is very fitting because I have to learned to find the good in thing that I thought I wanted, the ideas of what I thought were my future. I am now leaving the past behind and saying good bye and it so freeing. Some times the best things are the ones that don't match your minds ideas of the future but the one you can touch. My future is in Africa! As my favorite quote says "your past is your last breath, your present is this breath and your future is the next breath." So that breath I just took is gone and my next breath has not happen, so I will live for the breath that I am taking in and enjoying the present I have right now. Holding on to the breath right now!

So the song for today is Beyonce "Best I Never Had"

I am going to Africa

So its not the Pacific Island like I thought, but if you  know anything about the last two years, that is just how the years have gone, not at all of what I thought it was going to be. But just as I have found out these decisions have a purpose and in the end I know it going to be amazing. I have three months and I will be in Tanzania. After doing research, reading blogs, talking to returned volunteers and present volunteers, the people and country of Tanzania seem like a wonderful place to live for 27 month. I can not wait to get a chance to live near the ocean and not be landlocked like I am in the State. I love my friends and family but I am ready to go on the move and explore. Everyone says I am a natural explorer and always "finding" things. Ill soon write about what has lead me to Tanzania and what it has to bring me. Right now I am focusing on getting everything I need for basic survival (anyone with ideas let me know), learning more about Tanzania and  spending time with those that mean the most to me!
Currently sing Tiny Dancer - Elton John

Found it appropriate since he was getting a once in life time, same as me!
